The Magic of Reading Show
The "Magic of Reading Show" is a new addition to
my school programs. These are magical, 30-minute programs that engage and delight!
There are currently 3 programs offered:
1. "The Elements of Fiction"
This magical program focuses on the different
elements of fiction including: Character,
Setting, Problem, Solution, Message, and Sequencing.
Usually, a Dr. Seuss used as book is an example text.
Additionally, tips for improving reading skills are offered.
2. "The Elements of Fairy Tales"
This fun show looks at the key elements of Fairy Tales
in a very "magical" way. Looking at several Fairy Tale
examples, your student will gain insight about
this unique type of fiction. Even the Genie in the Mirror
from "Snow White" helps out!
This show is always a hit with both students and teachers!
3. "The Elements of Nonfiction"
Who knew that learning about nonfiction texts could be
so fun? This session magically describes the
different types of nonfiction and demonstrates the
use of Text Features. Also, Graphic Organizers are
explained. Finally, the use of Text Structure
(compare /contrast, cause/effect, and
problem/solution) is magically explained.
